The Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) reflects the role of individuals who command a marine vessel;
• Up to 12 metres in length, with propulsion power that is unlimited for an outboard engine
• With propulsion power that is unlimited for an outboard engine or up to 500kW for an inboard engine
• That is carrying passengers inshore or as tender or auxiliary vessel within 3 (NM)Nautical Miles of a parent vessel within the (EEZ)Exclusive Economic Zone.
• With propulsion power that is unlimited for an outboard engine or up to 500kW for an inboard engine
• That is carrying passengers inshore or as tender or auxiliary vessel within 3 (NM)Nautical Miles of a parent vessel within the (EEZ)Exclusive Economic Zone.
This level of qualification is currently cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as a Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal as defined by the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D.

Are you looking to work as a marine engine driver within the commercial vessel maritime industry?
Individuals who hold a current Marine Engine Driver (MED) 2 licence have the ability to work in and command operation and maintenance of vessel engines, equipment and auxiliary systems in engine rooms on board different size and types of commercial vessels.
This licence is issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
This level of qualification is currently cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal as defined by the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D.

The Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master up to 24 Metres Near Coastal) reflects the role of individuals who command a marine vessel;
• Up to 24 metres in length, within the EEZExclusive Economic Zone
• Act as Chief Mate or Deck Watchkeeper on vessels up to 35 metres within the EEZExclusive Economic Zone.
• Act as Chief Mate or Deck Watchkeeper on a vessel up to 80 Metres within shore waters.
• Act as Chief Mate or Deck Watchkeeper on vessels up to 35 metres within the EEZExclusive Economic Zone.
• Act as Chief Mate or Deck Watchkeeper on a vessel up to 80 Metres within shore waters.
This level of qualification is currently cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as a Master up to 24 Metres Near Coastal as defined by the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D.

This program is supported under the Queensland Government User Choice (Traineeship) Program. Eligible students may undertake this program utilising User Choice funding. At this location we have been blessed with have a large training room to which we host first aid, navigation workshops and general learning presentations. For mariners in training, you’ll have direct and clear access to the Broadwater and Seaway via our PTG vessels during practical workshops. In your lunch breaks, indulge in onsite delicious delights with super friendly service from Espresso Twenty5 and The Galley.
