A Registered Training Organisation, or RTO, is a training provider registered to deliver nationally recognised vocational education and training and issue AQF certification documentation for training products within its scope of registration.

PTG is regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority and operates under the national VET regulatory framework, including the 2025 Standards for RTOs.

PTG's current registration and scope can be independently checked on the National Training Register.

Nationally recognised training is vocational education and training based on nationally endorsed or accredited training products listed on the National Training Register.

When all requirements of an AQF qualification are successfully completed, the applicable qualification documentation can be issued. Where one or more units are successfully completed without completion of the full qualification, a Statement of Attainment may be issued as applicable.

PTG delivers nationally recognised qualifications, skill sets and units across areas including maritime operations, first aid and business. PTG also delivers selected short-course and licensing-related training activities.

PTG ensures that people delivering training and making assessment decisions meet the applicable credential, vocational competency, industry currency and professional development requirements for the activities they undertake.

This includes maintaining current vocational knowledge and skills and current knowledge of vocational education and training. Where the national Credential Policy permits training to be delivered under direction, appropriate supervision and quality-assurance arrangements apply.

PTG is based at Building A05, 1 Boatworks Drive, Coomera QLD 4209, within The Boat Works marine precinct on the northern Gold Coast.

Some practical activities may be delivered at another nominated site, vessel, pool or workplace. Check your workshop information before attending.

The current Student Handbook is available from the PTG website and contains important information about student rights and responsibilities, fees and refunds, support, complaints and appeals, training and assessment processes and other student policies.

Entry requirements vary between training products. Depending on the course, requirements may relate to existing qualifications or units, language, literacy and numeracy, digital capability, age, experience, physical participation or other course-specific conditions.

Maritime students should also distinguish between entry requirements for training and licensing or certification requirements. They are not necessarily the same.

Many PTG courses use a blended delivery model. Depending on the training product, delivery may combine:

• self-paced online learning and theory activities;
• online knowledge assessment;
• trainer support while completing online learning;
• face-to-face training, demonstrations and guided practice; and
• practical assessment in an appropriate environment.

After enrolment and activation, PTG provides instructions for creating or accessing your aXcelerate Learner Portal account. The portal is used to access relevant online learning, resources, assessments and enrolment information.

If you cannot log in, contact PTG for support rather than creating multiple accounts.

Where a course contains online learning followed by face-to-face practical training, students should complete the required pre-learning and follow the workshop booking instructions provided for their enrolment.

Workshop availability can be affected by trainer availability, class numbers, vessels, facilities, weather and operational requirements. Students are encouraged to plan ahead.

Fees vary according to the qualification, skill set, unit, funding arrangement and delivery model. The current Course Detail Page should be used to confirm the fee before enrolment.

Course information should identify:

• the course fee and payment arrangements;
• what is included in the fee;
• known additional or external costs; and
• other financial conditions relevant to the course.

Regulator, licence, certification, medical, travel, accommodation or other external costs are not automatically included unless expressly stated.

Payment arrangements may be available for eligible courses. Options can vary according to the course, fee structure and enrolment circumstances. Contact the PTG administration team to discuss the arrangements available for your selected course.

Refunds, withdrawals and cancellations are managed in accordance with PTG's current policies and the terms provided to the student. Students should review the current Student Handbook and applicable course information rather than relying on an older copy of the policy.

PTG provides or gives students access to the resources required for the training and assessment activities included in their enrolment. Depending on the course, these may include learner resources, online modules, assessment instructions, reference material, practical activities, forms and templates.

Any course-specific equipment or items students must provide themselves should be identified in the course information.

Contact PTG as early as possible. You do not need to wait until you have fallen behind or been unsuccessful in an assessment.

Depending on the barrier, support may include clarification, additional explanation, guided practice, assistance with online systems, learning support, reasonable adjustment or another appropriate pathway.

Support can assist you to learn and prepare, but it cannot remove the requirement to demonstrate the skills and knowledge specified by the training product.

Yes. Students may raise disability, access or other support needs before enrolment or during training. Where appropriate, PTG can consider reasonable adjustments that support participation on an equal basis.

The adjustment depends on the individual circumstances, training product and assessment requirements. A reasonable adjustment cannot remove or alter the essential competency requirements that must be demonstrated.

Recognition of Prior Learning, or RPL, is an assessment process used to determine whether skills and knowledge you already hold satisfy the requirements of one or more units of competency.

Evidence may come from relevant work experience, previous training, workplace records, third-party evidence, demonstrations, interviews or other suitable sources. Evidence must still satisfy the applicable assessment requirements.

Contact PTG before enrolment or as early as possible if you believe RPL may apply to you.

RPL involves assessment of skills and knowledge you already possess.

Credit Transfer recognises a matching or equivalent nationally recognised unit that you have already successfully completed, subject to verification and any applicable training-product or licensing requirements.

If you already hold relevant Statements of Attainment or qualifications, provide them to PTG so credit can be considered.

Assessment determines whether you have demonstrated the required skills and knowledge. If further evidence is required, your assessor will identify the area that needs to be addressed and explain the applicable further-training, reassessment or additional-evidence process.

Reassessment arrangements can depend on the training product, assessment activity, safety considerations, scheduled workshop availability and PTG policy.

Students have access to PTG's complaints and appeals processes. A complaint may relate to training, services, conduct or another aspect of the student experience. An appeal can be used where a student seeks review of an assessment decision or another appealable decision.

The current lodgement process, response arrangements, review steps and escalation information are set out in the Student Handbook.

AQF certification documentation is issued after the relevant assessment requirements have been successfully completed and the applicable certification conditions have been satisfied.

Under the current national compliance requirements, eligible AQF certification documentation is to be issued within 30 calendar days from completion of assessment, provided the applicable conditions are met.

For maritime students, PTG-issued AQF certification documentation is separate from an AMSA Certificate of Competency.

PTG does not guarantee employment or operate a formal job-placement service as part of course completion. Training is designed to develop vocational skills and knowledge associated with the relevant training product.

Students remain responsible for meeting any separate employer, regulator, licensing, experience or recruitment requirements applicable to the roles they pursue.
