Paradigm Training Groups Shipboard Safety Skill Set is an exciting and interactive course developed to prepare individuals for developing safety skills while at sea.

This certificate is required when working on any commercial vessel. PTG offer this course via online delivery and a 1 day face-to-face workshop.

The Shipboard Safety Skill Set is for students who are currently completing one of the following qualifications:
 
  • MARSS00008 Shipboard Safety Skill Set
  • MAR10418 Certificate I in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal)
  • MAR20318 Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 2 Near Coastal)
  • MAR20419 Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 Near Coastal)
  • MAR30818 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal)
  • MAR30918 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master up to 24 Metres Near Coastal)

To request and hold your spot in this workshop‚ you will need to have completed all of your online activities and assessments for the Following units of competence:
 
  • MARF027 Apply basic survival skills in the event of vessel abandonment
  • MARF028 Follow procedures to minimise and fight fires on board a vessel
  • MARF029 Meet work health and safety requirements
  • MARF030 Survive at sea using survival craft

Workshop Safety:

Prior to attending this workshop, you will be required to complete and provide a copy of the PTG workshop safety agreement to your trainer and assessor. Please note, this may be emailed or presented at your workshop. (Click here)

What You Will Need To Bring:

Classroom:

 
  • Water
  • Lunch
  • Writing tools (book‚ pens, pencils)
  • Wear comfortable clothes for classroom activities

For Fire Drills:
 
  • Long Sleeve Shirt
  • Long Pants
  • Safety Glasses
  • Enclosed Shoes

For Water Drills:
 
  • Clothes to get wet in, including swimsuit (similar to work gear)
  • Dry clothes to change into
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat

Please note, as the training and assessment takes place in different scenarios including fire fighting, water survival and vessel handling, session days, times and locations may change due to weather or other risk factors. If sessions are changed, you will be notified before or during the workshop.
